Grading / Recontouring
RECON’s equipment operators understand the micro-scale variations in contours to successfully grade sites for proper water movement. This is crucial in the establishment of vernal pools and other small-scale habitat types.
Project Example: J2 Racetrack Rehabilitation Project
Focus: Revegetation and erosion control
Location: Fort Irwin, CA
Habitat Type: Creosote bush–white bursage desert scrub
Plant Installation: 1,500 plants on 13 acres
Erosion Control: 22 miles of road rehabilitation; 1,200 feet of desert wash
RECON successfully implemented a large-scale desert scrub ecological restoration project on Fort Irwin, consisting of the installation of 1,500 site-sourced container plants ÑÇÐǹú¼Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾in 13 acres of degraded habitat. The plants were intermixed ÑÇÐǹú¼Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ 1,200 feet of jute and gabion erosion control structures associated ÑÇÐǹú¼Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ the desert wash components of the ecosystem. In addition, RECON rehabilitated 22 miles of degraded desert road to alleviate gullying, ruts, and erosion.
